Every container of Gun Smokeless Powders is backed by a century of manufacturing experience and the most exacting quality control procedures in the industry. We check and control chemical composition, the shape and size of powder grains, even the propellants’ density and porosity. We send samples of every batch to our ballistics lab, testing for burning speed, among other things. Then, after blending batches together for exactly the right ballistic characterisitics, we use our advanced computerized equipment to test again.

Gun Powders began in 1984 as Dexter Automotive courtesy of the vision of Bob Lindly. Dexter Automotive was the first master distributor for Accurate powder. Bob recognized the need for individual shooters to have access to powder at reasonable prices. Kent and Paula Radcliff purchased the business from Dexter Automotive in 1991.
Bryan and Noel Richardson purchased Gun Powders in June 2000 and moved the business to Winfield, KS focused on “Providing the finest in reloading components at the best possible price.” Due to the ever increasing cost to ship hazardous materials we expanded our vision to offer every type of powder and primers available so that reloaders would have a single shopping source for their powder and primer needs.
Gun Powders offers high quality brands of Smokeless Powder such as Hodgdon Powder, Winchester Powders, IMR Powders and Alliant Powders.
Since 2000 Gun Powders has grown to become the single largest distributor of canister powder in the United States. We currently offer every brand of powder and primer offered in the United States along with an ever-expanding offering of bullets, brass, wads, shot, gun care items and ammunition.
Powder Valley has grown from a two man, 4,000 sq ft warehouse operation to now employing nearly 20 employees in a 20,000 sq ft warehouse. Customers continually find that Gun Powders is a leader in the industry through superior customer service and pricing.
